Does CPT or direct-push work require a permit in Lee County?
Lee County's current well code identifies direct-push and CPT work and generally requires a county Natural Resources permit for geotechnical work deeper than 10 feet, except hand-auger work. Confirm the parcel, exact scope, municipal jurisdiction and right-of-way requirements before scheduling.
Can a temporary piezometer remain after field work?
Duration affects county classification. Lee County's posted materials distinguish a test boring or piezometer abandoned within one week from a monitoring well retained longer, so the intended duration and closeout method should be decided before permitting.
Can CPT replace conventional soil borings?
Not automatically. CPT provides detailed continuous in-situ profiling, while conventional borings recover material for field description and laboratory testing. Many programs use the methods together.
