Ambient Technologies Drilling Team Installed 100 Soil Borings using 12” Outside Diameter Hollow Stem Augers. This is a bio-boring remediation project. These borings were used to install Injection Wells and Support the client to install remediation product through the HSA. The goal is to achieve cleanup standards via biological degradation. The use of big augers, 12” Outside Diameter Hollow Stem Augers, was to open the boring and introduce/install the Bio mix via HSA. The Key Contaminants were Chlorinated Solvents: trichloroethylene (TCE), perchloroethylene (PCE), methylene chloride, and chloroform. Two manufacturers used this project site, and the last one was Hughes supply. The Ambient Technologies Team used a GEOPROBE 7822DT to install 100 soil borings using HSA with an Outside Diameter of approximately 12" at a depth of 25 ft bls (50 SBs) and a dept of 40 ft (50 SBs). Soils sampling was done in four areas of the project site around which 25 of the HSAs were completed to optimize the matrix of “bio-borings”. One of the challenges at this site that the ATI Drilling Crew had to deal with is the presence of very hard clay in certain areas of the project site.
