Former CSX Rail Yard

Project scope and field context

ATI Companies Drilling Team completed an Environmental Drilling and Sampling project at the Former CSX Rail Yard which included collection of 155 soil samples at several boring locations at depths between 6 ft and 20 ft below land surface (bls) using Direct Push Technology (DPT). Ambient Technologies, Inc. (ATI) used a Geoprobe 7730 DT to accomplish the required Scope Of Work which consisted of testing 9 soil borings to 20 ft; 1 soil boring to 16 ft; 14 soil borings to 12 ft; 59 soil borings to 8 ft and 72 soil borings to 6 ft for a total 1,282 feet. Decontamination of drilling equipment between samples was required. No drum storage of contaminated soils was needed because DPT was used. Boreholes were backfilled with native soils. The variable terrain of the site required the use of some of the unique capabilities of the Geoprobe 7730 DT in order adjust the level of the drill rig on the hillside as shown in the third photo.
